Based on Orchos Tzadikim, Gate of Joy, 3rd Domain of Trust

1. Responsibilities toward Your Wife and Children
   1. To provide them with all that you are OBLIGATED to provide them with
   2. To fulfill their needs and desires
   3. Your heart should be whole/at peace with them
   4. To teach and guide them in the ways of Torah and Avodas Hashem
      
      
2. Your Motivation
   1. ONLY to fulfill Hashem’s commandment
   2. NOT for:
      1. Physical gain
      2. Honor
      3. Satisfaction of power over them
         
         
3. Your Attitude and Behavior
   1. You are Hashem’s agent to teach them
   2. Do not take credit for what you do
   3. Do not behave with arrogance toward them
      
      
4. If You Need Something from Them
   1. Recognize they are merely agents of Hashem
   2. Therefore:
      1. Do not put your trust in them
      2. Do not hold them guilty for failing to fulfill your wishes
      3. Know that there are many agents for Hashem aside from them
